Greek Week Day 1
Ok so yesterday was the first day of Greek Week. We had dodgeball and kickball in the Alumni Field house. At the beginning i went crazy because it was a little unorganized. After a little bit it all came together and people seemed like they were having a good time. The kickball was fun but not many people got into it. On the other hand i think Dodgeball was a big success. Everyone got into it and had a blast. One day down and four to go ha ah. I can't wait for it to be over. Tonight is the water events which a lot of people don't seem to wanna be apart of but well see how that turns out.

Hey, So it is finally Friday and im so excited for the weekend. As im sure some of you know Greek Week is this Sunday and im praying that everything goes well. I have been updating the Greek Awards criteria and getting all the last minute things done for this coming week. I actually really can't wait for Greek Week to be over already ha ha. Im sure it will be fun and everyone should have a good time. Other than that i was working with one of the other interns to get a slide show up for the banquet that has greeks on it from throughout the year. Monday Monday Monday
I'm back from what i thought was an amazing weekend. We had a going away party for one of my pledge brothers who is going to the Navy. I wish Murph the best of luck and we are all going to miss him and his crazy antics ha ha. A lot of alumni were here to hang out and say their goodbyes also which was really cool. On a different note, this week is going to be very busy for me. Break is coming up and i need to tie up some loose ends with Greek Week. I handed out all the packets and are expecting to know how many shirts i will need to order, as well as how much food i am going to need at this awards banquet. Even though planning Greek Week has been a bit stressful i have actually been enjoying myself. This internship has been really great so far an has helped me gain knowledge in a lot of different areas of campus life. I definitly think if you are interested in be a Greek Intern, and you wanna get to know a lot more about campus and how things work then this is the place for you. If you guys have any questions about the internship feel free to e-mail me at Mercel26@oneonta.edu.

Things Finally Going My Way :)
Good Afternoon, so this week has gone smoothly because Greek Week is now officially set up. I have finalized the events, the schedule, and have finished the packets that go out to all the chapters. All that is really left is ordering the shirts for the teams, and the food for the awards banquet and the tailgate. As i mentioned last time i really hope the Greeks enjoy this years Greek Week because i am putting a lot into it, and for them not to like it would almost be wasteful. Other than that i am looking forward to break that is coming up next weekend. It will be nice to get away from all the work for once. This is my last blog for the week and i will talk more next week. So until next time have a good weekend have fun and be safe.

Back in Action
Hey everyone sorry it has been a while since my last blog. This past week has been a busy week will all the new members getting into their organizations. When it comes to the internship i am still planning out Greek Week and it seems to be starting to come together. Im really excited to see how it eventually turns out, because i want everyone to enjoy it. I don't want to be that guy who planned a lame Greek Week. Other than that, i haven't been working on much else because Greek Week is a lot to work on. When i have more to talk about ill post again.

Getting the Hang of Things
Hey Guys,
This week has been a lot better than past weeks due to the fact that Greek Week is starting to fall into place. I recieved calls back from Alumni field house and the Chase Pool, the good news is we finally got it reserved for Greek Week and we can now start to plan the events. We pretty much have the events for the field house down, but we need to think of some water events that we want to do in the pool. I am hoping that all the Greeks like my ideas and really enjoy this years Greek Week. My committee met on Monday and for next week we are going to have teaser flyers and shirt design ideas. As of now this week is going good and i really can't complain (Knock on Wood). Before i get a head of myself i am going to get back to some work....so ill ttyl

End of the Week
Hey Guys,
So this week was choc-full of events. I attended a teleconference on leadership which was pretty insightful, but kind of boring. I did get a lot out of it and it kind of helped me look at my leadership roll on campus a little better. I also attended another AOD Dance Party meeting which is going to be fun. It is a dance party that promotes safe drinking habits if you are going to go out and drink. Also i am working on flyers for the freshman block party which will take place in August (those are always a lot of fun). Other than that I am blogging as you can tell as well as a few other little projects which i will update you on next week. I am really just looking forward to the weekend which is always fun. Until next time have a safe weekend and come back soon.

Back After Break
Hey Everyone
It's my first day back from our random week break and im excited to get back to my internship. I know Angie has a lot of new things for me to start working on. One thing ill be continuing to work on is Greek Week which has been a bit of a pain. I have all these ideas but its hard to set it in stone when you still are waiting on other people to get back to you with things like where events will be held. Other than that ill be doing little projects like posters and figuring out themes for events on campus. Ill have more information later in the week but untill next time stay classy

Greek Week Committee's First Meeting
Hey Everyone, On Monday i had my first meeting with the Greek Week Committe so we can get the ball rolling on setting up Greek Week. For anyone that doesn't know what Greek Week is, it is basically olympics for the Greeks on campus. We have a lot of fun events like, dodgeball, track and field events, and other fun games. Basically what the committee discussed was the budget, possible events, and the different events going on during Greek Week, Such as, the Greek Banquet, and Take back the night, which is a walk for rape victims. The meeting went really well and many ideas were put on the table. I am hoping this Greek Week is a success, because many people criticize the event as a whole. When you have 300 Greeks you tend to get negative feedback from somewhere. I will do my best to pull this off and make as many people as happy as possible. I will update you on my progress over the next month or so. For now im outta here, thanks for listening

Committee on Greek Life
Hey Hey Hey! Today was pretty exciting so far becasue i attended a meeting with the committee on Greek Life. At this meeting we discussed lowering the number of people needed to start an organization on campus from 10 to 5 people. At other colleges the requirement to start an organization is 5, and these school are twice our size. With this information we decided that lowering the number makes sense. As a school we are half the size and have double the amount of people needed to start an organization. It was awesome that i was able to have input on this situation. I really think that anyone should be able to start a Greek letter organization and not just me but many other Greeks think having more Greeks is not a bad thing. We can only benefit from it.

Campus Connection
So today my main goal was to get the Campus Connection for the IGC up and running. I started by getting all the E-board access to the page and putting up whatever pictures i can find. Unfortunately i was not able to find any good pics so my search continues. After working on campus connection for a while Angie asked me to write an article for the Greek sound. This is a newsletter that lets the college know whats going on with the Greek Community. I'm not an amazing writer but i managed to write my first article ever in the history of Ericdom (i know that was corny but whatever I'm over it ha ha). So as of now i really like the internship and I'm enjoying it, the environment is great and so is everyone that works in the office so you really can't go wrong. Until next time Oneonta, keep your pimp hand strong

So Far So Good
As of now i am about a week into my internship here in the Greek Life Office. So far i really seem to be enjoying it. This past Monday was the first of two new member meetings, and i along with another intern came up with a great ice breaker. The object of the ice breaker was to get a hula hoop from one end of the line to the other and back without breaking from holding the persons hand next to them. I understand it sounds a little childish for young college students but it was fun and they all seemed to really have a good time with it. I was extremely happy Angie gave me the opportunity to start off the program by introducing myself and the two advisors who were presenting. By running this program it gave me a little insight on public speaking as well as improving on my communiation skills. Other than that i also got to meet a few new faces who will hopefully oneday make it into the 3% of students who comprise the Greek community here at SUNY Oneonta. On the whole i would say things are going well and im having a blasts .

My Fist Blog as a Greek Intern
Hey everyone, today is the second day into my internship and thankfully everything is running smoothly. The best part about this job is getting the hands on experience i need to help me out in what students today call the "Real World". I have been working on a pamphlet for parents who don't really know what us Greeks are about. Hopefully this will help parents accept Greeks for who we really are, and not the common negative stereotypes of the downtown groups. The best part about interning in the Greek Life office is being able to interact not only with the brothers in my fraternity, but also the other greeks that come in and out each day. It is a real calm and fun environment where i can not only get my work done but also meet all kinds of people. Until next time stay classy Oneonta.
